SARGAM SCHOOL OF INDIAN MUSIC:
Sargam School of Indian Music formed in 2006, a school fully devoted to Indian Classical music with a mission to provide an ideal education in the field of Indian Classical vocal & instrumental and to present based on Indian Classical music for all to enjoy the rich heritage of India. The school imparts qualitative education and has put up Indian Classical Music concerts with International & local musicians since 2006. The students of Sargam School comes from different ethnic groups such as: Europe, Fiji , Malaysia, South Africa, India, Pakistan, Sri lanka, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Tonga, China, Bangladesh & United States.
The school is proud to have well qualified and experienced teachers . The founder of school, Basant Madhur is well known and beloved Tabla ( Indian Classical Drums ) Player of the audience & musicians in New Zealand. Before coming to New Zealand, he has earned good name in a big country like India in the field of Indian music. He is a Class one approved artist of All India radio & television. Basant is a regular performer with international & local Indian musicians and also attached with several western musicians. On account of his versatility and pleasing disposition, he is the most sought after creative artist in the realm of Indian classical music in New Zealand (Australasia).He was awarded the award of Appreciation for the Tabla Maestro by GOPIO. ( Global organization of People of Indian Origin New Zealand.
The Vocalist & violinist, retired professor of Music, Shukdev Madhur is recipient of National Award from the president of India in 1993, for his contribution in Indian Classical Music. Prof Madhur spends time between India & New Zealand and have trained hundreds of students and many of them are performers, lecturers / teachers of Music.
In The year 2008, Deepak Madhur, elder son of Prof Madhur Moved to New Zealand and started teaching vocals, Harmonium & Tabla along with Prof madhur & Basant.
For the last 3 years, Sargam School is putting up Tabla / Indian Music Workshops at Auckland Diwali Festival organised by Asia New Zealand Foundation and Auckland Tourism, Events and economic Developments Ltd.
Sargam School has proudly presented:
Pt Rakesh Chaurasia, (Nephew of Legendry Pt Hari Prasad Chaurasia ) in a series of 3 concerts in ‘Whangarei, Auckland & Hamilton on 7th, 8th & 9th March 2014, which raised funds for the construction of Shri Ram Mandir in Auckland.
Grammy Award Winner, Indian classical Guitarist Pt VM Bhatt in march -2013 as a Tribute Concert to Legend of Indian Classical Music late Pt Ravi Shankar.
Grammy Nominated India’s Ace Flutiest Pt Ronu Majumdar in the years 2008,2010,2012.

Sargam school is putting up Annual Concert of Students- “Music Extravaganza “ every year since 2006. From the year 2008, Sargam has started inviting International musicians of highest calibre to New Zealand.
